I hope that over the coming weeks, I can share my experiences, tips, advice and also provide motivation and inspiration to those who have always thought ‘I can’t’, to change that voice to ‘I could’. For me, the marathon has served as an escape from grief, release from a stressful and demanding career and a means to raise over £15k for charity - all of which are valid reasons to give this distance a shot.

Running a marathon takes this to the next step, but despite the daunting distance - the 26.2 miles is achievable to anyone who is prepared to work for it. The escapism running provides, the possibilities to see new places, the community you will find - if you choose to find it - are all reasons I have been a passionate runner for the last 15 years. I believe running, not only to have lasting and long-term health benefits (this is proven by many studies and science) but also to have a huge impact on a person’s mental health and well-being. You may be running for the first time this year, or you may be a seasoned distance runner - I am hoping that over the next few weeks there will be something for everyone! You may have never run a marathon - but maybe, just maybe, you are inspired to take on the 26.2. If you are following my socials, you will have seen the launch of ‘Marathon Month’ - the aim of this is to talk all things marathon for the next month in the lead-up to the London marathon. That Finish Line Feeling - This was London Marathon number 1 in 2016.
